The Philippine Government has decided to rely on a biometric system to ensure only families that legitimately qualify for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Grant are receiving the financial aid, according to a Business World Online article.

In an attempt to prevent students from sharing their ID cards in the cafeteria meal line, the University of Maine at Orono has deployed hand scanners.

Zebra and Checkpoint Systems have entered into a cooperative relationship and licensing agreement. While the exact terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the relationship does bring together Zebra’s active location solutions with Checkpoint division OATSystems’ passive RFID, auto-ID and sensor capabilities.
