The upcoming Active RFID, RTLS & Sensor Networks Conference, to be hosted by IDTechEx in Dallas November 5-6, will focus on growing use of active RFID technology around the world, with a special focus on the markets in the U.S. and China. According to the research firm, this year each country’s share of the international RFID market will be $1.3 billion, with business poised to quintuple over the next decade.
To date, the U.S. market has been dominated by active RFID applications, such as asset tracking and military uses, while Chinese users have focused on passive applications like ID and payment cards. This may soon change, as the Chinese government prioritizes and funds the adoption of RFID applications of all types with its “RFID China Alliance” project.
The November conference will explore this changing market, with speakers addressing RFID issues in both countries, along with experts from around the world. Topics will include “Opportunities for Active RFID and RTLS in China” and “Food Safety and Quality Control in the Military Supply Chain,” looking at efforts by the U.S. Army in that area.
