KSW Microtec launches temperature-tracking label

Thursday, September 4, 2008 in News

RFID component supplier KSW Microtec AG has announced an enhanced version of its VarioSens label. The new device features an integrated temperature sensor that enables it to track and record temperature fluctuations.

The new label contains an RFID chip with a unique identification number and a configurable read/write memory. Users can program customer data, product information and addresses into the label and monitor temperatures with variable time stamps. All ISO 15693 compliant readers can be used to configure the VarioSens label and read the logged temperature records.

The VarioSens label’s temperature-monitoring capabilities are intended for tracking and tracing perishables, pharmaceuticals and other temperature sensitive goods, from fine wines to vaccines. The label also features password protection and a durable design to ensure reusability.

The Variosens label will make its debut at KSW Microtec’s RFID World 2008 booth. [end]
