Swiss retailer introduces RFID tracking

Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in News

Manor AG, one of the largest retailers in Switzerland, has launched an RFID-enabled tracking system at two of its distribution centers and the stores they service. The retailer expects the system to improve warehouse inventory processes, outbound shipping accuracy and inbound store receiving practices.

The new tracking systems, installed at distribution centers in Hochdorf and Mohlin, use tagged cases and other transit carriers to track apparel and general merchandise as it is loaded onto mixed pallets and loaded onto trucks. In order to streamline this process, Manor is working with suppliers to pre-tag inbound shipments. When the shipments arrive at the stores, RFID readers scan the merchandise into the store’s inventory system.

The new system uses Reva Systems’ Tag Acquisition Processor products and Sirit’s INfinity 510 RFID readers. The deployment of the system is being managed by Rodata AG, a systems integrator headquartered in Switzerland with offices in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. [end]
