Checkpoint acquires OATSystems

Monday, August 25, 2008 in News

Checkpoint Systems Inc. has announced it will acquire OATSystems Inc. in an all-cash transaction. Checkpoint Systems plans to operate OATSystems as a division of its company, continuing to use and develop the OATSystems brand and software platform while also retaining the company’s senior management. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

OATSystems provides software solutions for an international client base in the retail, consumer products, consumer electronics, manufacturing, aerospace and defense industries. The two companies offer complementary merchandise protection and inventory management applications

“As our industry moves to a common EPC standard, Checkpoint, with the addition of OATSystems’ capabilities, will now be able to offer solutions that enable retailers and their supply chains to gain deeper inventory visibility - further reducing shrink and increasing bottom-line profits by enhancing on-shelf merchandise availability for consumers,” says Rob van der Merwe, president and CEO at Checkpoint Systems Inc. [end]
