Another retailer combines inventory and security
LCWaikiki, one of Turkey’s fastest growing clothing store chains, has joined the list of retailers combining inventory tracking and electronic article surveillance functions in one RFID-enabled system. The retailer is testing the system in its Istanbul flagship store, and looking toward rolling it out in all of the 190 stores it operates.
LCWaikiki uses a system designed by Alien Technologies in cooperation with STS Technology, a Turkish RFID system integrator and member of Alien’s Value Added Solutions Provider network. STS installed the system, which involved tagging each of the twenty-four thousand articles of clothing in the flagship store with RFID/EAS combo hard tags. The tags include both an electronic article surveillance anti-theft sensor and an Alien UHF/EPC compliant Gen 2 Squiggle-Short inlay. The RFID inlay enables LCWaikiki to track all inventory processes from delivery to sale.
Since the installation of the system, LCWaikiki has seen a 60 percent time reduction in inventory tracking and a 70 percent time savings in the transfer of stock from the storeroom to the sales area. The increase in efficiency has resulted in significant cost savings for LCWaikiki, helping the company maintain competitive price points.
