Wavelink, Datalogic Mobile announce partnership

Wavelink Corporation and Datalogic Mobile have announced a strategic alliance. The partnership brings together leading companies in the hardware and software sectors of the mobile device industry with the goal of creating new cost-effective solutions for mobile device users.

Datalogic Mobile is part of Datalogic, a manufacturer of bar code readers, data collection mobile computers and RFID systems. The Datalogic Mobile division offers a range of rugged mobile devices for the logistics and retail industries.


Wavelink is a market leader in mobile application development and infrastructure management software, with applications shipped on more than 3.5 million devices worldwide.

Details on specific products resulting from the strategic alliance are forthcoming, but representatives of both companies looked towards fully-integrated hardware/software packages produced at lower costs resulting from the partnership. [end] 

RSA Security executives spelled out the company’s product strategy for 2012, announcing that it would focus on mobile, anti-threat and cloud security.

As reported in Network World, RSA wants to develop tools that can help businesses improve data protection on mobile devices by separating personal and corporate data and improving mobile device authentication. RSA’s strategy includes adding more factor options to multi-factor authentication and embedding SecurID technology in mobile phones.

Zebra and Checkpoint Systems have entered into a cooperative relationship and licensing agreement. While the exact terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the relationship does bring together Zebra’s active location solutions with Checkpoint division OATSystems’ passive RFID, auto-ID and sensor capabilities.

The partnership includes technology and know-how transfer to StarChip. With this combined experience in secure integrated circuit development and contactless technology, StarChip will roll out state-of-the-art smart card products to enable applications in transport, banking and identity.
