SkyeTek Inc., provider of embedded RFID reader solutions, has announced a cooperative arrangement with EM Microelectronic (EM), Swatch Group’s semiconductor company. SkyeTek’s M9 SkyeModule will support a full command set of EM4122 and EM4444 UHF ICs from EM, enabling SkyeTek to offer a high performing and low cost tag and reader solutions.
SkyeTek’s SkyeModule M9 is a small, globally compliant UHF RFID reader module. The M9 was designed for embedded UHF applications approximately half the size of a business card.
EM manufactures ultra low-power, low-voltage ICs. In December, 2007, the company was ranked the number two global vendor of RFID transponder ICs by the market research group ABI.
“By integrating with EM, we are better able to deploy RFID in applications such as anti-counterfeiting, asset tracking, and item-level inventory,” says Rob Balgley, CEO of SkyeTek. “This enables organizations of all kinds to benefit from RFID as more than just barcode, but rather as a networked technology.”
The new EM-compliant M9 is now available through SkyeTek’s M9 Developer Kit, which comes with a complete RFID solution. EM Microelectronic also features SkyeTek’s M9 reader module in its EM UHF RFID Developer Kit which also includes EM’s UHF tag assortment based on the 4x22, 4x44 and the upcoming EM4324, EM’s first EPC C1 Gen2 compliant transponder chip. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/rfidnews-4.gif)
