SMARTRAC introduces new RFID inlays

Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in News

RFID component provider SMARTRAC has launched a new line of RFID inlays for active cards as part of their high security market segment. The new inlays enable the cards to generate one-time passwords, offering a significant increase in the security of e-payments.

An active card typically includes a battery, switch, display, and microchip, but is still contained in the tight format of a credit card, making them more convenient for consumers than more bulky security tokens. SMARTRAC’s inlay design fits the compact design of these cards by using the company’s proprietary wire-embedding technology and a secure lamination process to contain the inlay’s components.

SMARTRAC’s high security segment specializes in RFID inlays for passports with integrated, contactless chips and contactless credit cards. [end]
