Innovision introduces new RFID IC engine solution

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Innovision Research & Technology PLC has worked with Axcess International Inc. to create an RFID IC engine solution marketed under Axcess’s DOT brand. It combines an 8051 core with complex RFID design to offer a multi-frequency solution with a relatively low price tag – currently around $10 per tag.

The compact chip features I2C and analog interfaces that enable it to work with a number of external sensors, which can be used for monitoring and logging data such as humidity, temperature or acceleration. The design is compatible with a range of RFID systems.

As RFIDNews noted last week, the U.S. Department of Defense has begun use of Axcess’s DOT tags to track its ordnance supplies. [end]
