Cashless ice cream machines coming soon to hotels

Monday, May 5, 2008

Imagine: You’re in a hotel. Room service is closed. You have no cash. But you really need a Fudgesicle. This common problem will soon be solved, thanks to cStar Technologies Inc., a producer of wireless self serve solutions, and Fastcorp LLC, a frozen vending solutions provider.

The companies have interfaced cStar’s Vending Genie Hospitality cashless system with Fastcorp’s Z-400 Robotic Frozen Vendors to create ice cream vending machines that will dispense ice cream with a swipe of a guest’s RFID-enabled room key or wristband. The frozen treat is automatically charged to the guest’s room bill or prepaid account.

cStar’s technology has already been used by resorts and hotels in other self service areas such as arcades, business centers, parking structures and laundry facilities. [end]
