Army solicits RFID proposals
The Army Contracting Agency has issued a request for proposals for passive RIFD devices that would support the Defense Department, other federal agencies and global military operations. The devices will be used for logistics tracking and the locating and monitoring of assets.
The government is seeking commercially-available passive RFID communications hardware, software and documentation as well as training, warranty and maintenance services for the devices. Contractors will need to provide technical engineering services, such as turnkey technologies that integrate existing automatic identification technology and active RFID with passive technology.
The Army expects to award as many as five indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts with a base period of three years and a three-year option period. The Army plans to award three of the contracts to small businesses.
