Mu-Gahat offers solution for magnetic tape storage

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 in News

Mu-Gahat, a precision prototyping and RFID producer, has launched a new RFID tag designed to provide UHF read range performance to locate magnetic tapes. Back-up tape libraries can be a harsh environment for RFID tags.

The high concentrations of metal and metallic oxides in tape cartridges make these libraries a RF-unfriendly environment by “de-tuning” conventional inlays. Mu-Gahat’s new TC10 “202” inlay has been specifically engineered to combat this issue while still offering good range and reliability.

The TC10 “202”has a handheld read range of over three feet when stacked 10 cartridges high, and is embedded with an advanced Impinj RFID chip with secure memory. [end]
