IBM, OATSystems picked for giant Airbus project

IBM and OATSystems announced today that Airbus has selected them to provide the software for the largest RFID-enabled project in world manufacturing history.

Exact details were not revealed, but the deal involves a multi-million dollar, multi-year RFID project that will help streamline Airbus’ supply chain and manufacturing operations and significantly reduce its aircraft production and maintenance costs.

IBM and OAT will also make the software solution designed for the project available to Airbus’ suppliers and customers. [end] 

Russia has pushed back the launch of its universal eID card to January 2013, reports The Moscow Times.

Originally scheduled to roll out this month, the card is supposed to function as an electronic ID, driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, ATM card and immigration document, along with other possible features.

Zebra and Checkpoint Systems have entered into a cooperative relationship and licensing agreement. While the exact terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the relationship does bring together Zebra’s active location solutions with Checkpoint division OATSystems’ passive RFID, auto-ID and sensor capabilities.
