Sirit, TAGSYS Announce RFID Technology Partnership

Sirit’s UHF reader technology and TAGSYS’ RFID infrastructure combine to deliver turnkey, high-performing RFID solution

Sirit Inc. (“Sirit”) (TSX: SI), a leading provider of radio frequency identification (“RFID”) technologies, today announced a comprehensive partnership with TAGSYS, a global leader in item-level RFID infrastructure. The partnership further reinforces Sirit’s position as the leading supplier of UHF reader technology and provides TAGSYS with a more powerful RFID infrastructure, enabling companies to rapidly deploy and maintain RFID solutions.

As part of the agreement, TAGSYS will release its RXU-400 UHF fixed reader built on Sirit’s performance-leading INfinity 510 platform. Also, TAGSYS’ integrated tunnel systems, with proven capability to deliver Six Sigma performance, will be developed for UHF item-level applications powered by Sirit’s reader technology.

“We are pleased to reach an agreement with TAGSYS that leverages each company’s strengths and core competencies,” stated Tony Sabetti, vice president, RF Solutions for Sirit. “The INfinity 510 has proven to provide outstanding performance in the types of implementations in which TAGSYS is involved due to its strong feature-set and proprietary tag acquisition algorithms. TAGSYS leads the way in RFID applications for several key markets, such as fashion and pharmaceuticals, and we look forward to further developing this solutions-based relationship.”

“Bringing together complementary technologies from Sirit and TAGSYS represents an important milestone in our ability to bring the best technology to our customers, which leads to integrated, application-specific systems that exceed customer expectations,” said Fred Kohout, chief marketing officer for TAGSYS. “We performed extensive testing and evaluation of various readers, and Sirit’s INfinity 510 platform is clearly the type of product we want to deliver to our customers in terms of performance, reliability, and reader management capabilities.”

The technology partnership also includes e-connectware(TM), the innovative software from TAGSYS that remotely manages and optimizes RFID networks in real-time. e-connectware enables high-quality service levels and ensures data accuracy and integrity in item-level tagging. Sirit will certify the INfinity 510 and the RXU-400 from TAGSYS for compatibility with e-connectware.

“The INfinity 510 continues to live up to its ‘best in class’ reputation as is evidenced by customer field tests, the ODIN technologies European Reader Benchmark(TM) report, and now the selection by TAGSYS as its primary UHF reader platform,” continued Sabetti. “Along with outstanding field performance with large tag populations in challenging environments, our customers also tell us the broad portfolio of configuration and enterprise management tools set the INfinity 510 apart from competitive readers.”

TAGSYS will display the RXU-400 and its UHF product family at Euroshop in Dusseldorf, Germany, from Feb 23 through Feb 27, 2008 in booth D11, Hall 7A. Sirit will also exhibit their reader solutions for the retail market in booth D20, Hall 7A at Euroshop.

Oracle has released a new version of Oracle Retail Point-of-Service that aims to increase security, operational efficiency and functionality in part by integrating biometrics.

Oracle partnered with DigitalPersonal to add integrated biometrics to the POS package. Users of the software will login using their fingerprint, which will replace the need for PINs or passwords. This feature intends to reduce fraud by eliminating the possibility of unauthorized employees using a manager ID or swipe card to access the POS and approve overrides.
