It’s true, in NYC Fashion Week’s come and gone (at least till Fall time), but item-level RFID manufacturer TAGSYS is just getting started.

The company announced it will demonstrate its complete ultra-high frequency (“UHF”) RFID infrastructure designed specifically for the unique needs of the apparel industry at Euroshop 2008.

Calling Euroshop is the “ideal venue for TAGSYS to exhibit its new UHF RFID infrastructure for the apparel industry,” the company will show off its UHF RFID Tunnel, Wi-Fi RFID Inventory Reader, and Point of Sale RFID Station (designed to integrate into a store’s checkout counter, where the RFID station instantly identifies items for purchase).

Euroshop happens in Dusseldorf, Germany, Feb.23-27. [end] 

SML Group Ltd announced the launch of its new “ViziT” RFID item visibility solutions for the retail apparel and item tracking applications.

The ViziT solutions include a range of RFID/EAS enabled paper and woven labels, as well as tickets and sticker that can be attached to garments and stacked items. Using the SML ViziT IT cloud based data management software also provides for semi automated inventory control, as well as improved loss prevention by triggering alarms and item identification at the store exit.

Research In Motion has officially launched BlackBerry 7.1 OS, the latest upgrade to its smart phone operating system.

Available today on BlackBerry App World, BlackBerry 7.1 offers a new content sharing application for NFC phone users called “BlackBerry Tag.” According to RIM, the app allows users to swap contact info, documents, photos, URLs, and invite friends to BBM by simply tapping their NFC-enabled handsets together.

Kyocera is launching an NFC update for its Android-based Echo handset, according to Ubergizmo.com.

Scheduled to launch today, the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update will deliver NFC support to the dual-touchscreen Echo. Ubergizmo says this will enable handset to perform contactless payments, store loyalty cards and read tags and posters.
