Friday, October 5, 2007 in News

Dillard’s, Inc., one of the nation’s largest fashion apparel and home furnishing retailers, began an an item-level RFID tagging pilot in its stores this month.

The pilot consists of certain styles of merchandise being marked with RFID-enabled tags (designed to be removed at the time of purchase).

No link will be made between the garment information held by the tag and the customer’s personal information, the company notes.
