RFID Implant-Cancer Link: Hysteria or Legit?

Today ZDNet reports, there are studies “going back 10 years” that draw links between implanted RFID chips and cancer.

But whether RFID surgical implant manufacturer VeriChip covered such alleged “links” and today’s reality is up for a big debate.

So far, Slashdot and other geeky tech blogs like Gizmodo have used Californi’s passage of a law prohibiting companies from requiring that employees be “chipped” on privacy grounds as evidence.

Gizmodo and ZDNet also point to the fact that Tommy Thompson, the former Health and Human Services secretary who approved use of VeriChip impants, then went onto the Verichip board.
