India: RFID Reduces Forgery and Resume Fraud

Straight out of Bangalore, the India Times reports: The nightmare of fake CVs may soon end for corporate India.

With varsities taking to RFID-tagged certificates and bar-coded marksheets to beat forgery and resume fraud, recruiters can now breathe easy.

The first significant step in this direction has been taken by the Hyderabad Central University (HCU), which has tied up with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to introduce RFID chip-embedded degree certificates for its students. [end] 

Bank customers are responsible for detecting fraud 82% of the time, according to Information Security Media Group’s 2012 Faces of Fraud Survey.

Banks responding to the survey reported that the three leading causes of fraud they experienced were card-not-present – 56% – data breach at a retailer or processor – 53% – and point-of-sales skimming – 47% – all root causes over which the consumer has very little control.

India recently opened its first RFID-based electronic toll collection (ETC) plaza at Chandimandir in Haryana’s Panchkula district.
