CES Attendees Get RFID Badges

The Consumer Electronics Show, a post-holiday, craze-of-a-convention in Las Vegas that’s full of the latest electro toys and gadgets, is a geek’s dream.

And it’s about to become even geekier, or so we hear.

According to the Engadget blog, attendee badges will be embedded with RFID chips. So if you’re planning to crash the show, it may be a bit trickier … [end] 

ADR Software was tapped for its Workforce Monitor construction site labor monitoring service at a large scale government facility improvement project in Arlington, Va.

The system logged nearly 2,300 workers from over 181 companies using ADR Software’s advanced RFID-enabled monitoring stations. Workforce Monitor utilizes RFID tags, embedded in stickers affixed to hard hats and ID badges to monitor workforce traffic, while producing daily workforce reports on specific sub-contractor resources and hours throughout time spent on site.

Pethealth Inc. announced the roll out of an ISO-standard MiniChip for use with companion animal RFID applications.

Approximately one-third the size of a standard microchip – which itself is roughly the size of a grain of rice - the MiniChip is designed to offer a smaller-scale alternative without compromising any of the protective benefits.

Jiepang, a location-based service provider in China, has announced it is testing NFC technology in its SoLoMo (social-local-mobile) service.

Jiepang says the trial, which will use UPM BullsEye and UPM MiniBlock NFC tags, is part of a larger business strategy to take SoLoMo beyond social networking and mobile marketing promotions to provide contactless payments and other offerings.
