ODIN and Airbus Collaboration Update

An interesting feature of the ODIN project is the scope of Airbus’s program. , writes research analyst Simon Holloway. They anticipate deployments in traditional supply-chain logistics, tool and asset tracking and work-in-process inventory management. ODIN Technology’s task is to work as a solutions developer for Airbus in managing fast-track roll-outs of RFID systems.

Mr. Holloway’s comments come on the heels of an announcement that Airbus has selected ODIN Technologies for a multi-year engagement as its exclusive worldwide RFID hardware integration partner.

ODIN will provide solution design, deployment, testing and support services for the first of three ambitious phases to provide real-time automated visibility across the Airbus value chain. [end] 

ODIN has released EasySpecimen - a health care, RFID-based solution recently designed to automate tracking and data entry for medical center pathology labs.

Mayo Clinic, a nonprofit provider in medical care, research and education, has selected ODIN as its RFID software collaborator to replace and upgrade its legacy RFID system and commercialize the patented technology. Mayo is implementing the EasySpecimen RFID solution across its 42 GI/Colorectal Endoscopy suites and Anatomic Pathology Laboratory at its Rochester, MN facilities.

Research In Motion has officially launched BlackBerry 7.1 OS, the latest upgrade to its smart phone operating system.

Available today on BlackBerry App World, BlackBerry 7.1 offers a new content sharing application for NFC phone users called “BlackBerry Tag.” According to RIM, the app allows users to swap contact info, documents, photos, URLs, and invite friends to BBM by simply tapping their NFC-enabled handsets together.

Turkcell, Turkey’s largest mobile operator, has announced the launch of a SIM-based NFC road toll payment application on the Turkcell T11 smart phone.

Developed in collaboration with Bank Asya, the app allows users to migrate their plastic KGS toll payment cards onto their T11 smart phone to pay for fares when crossing bridges and freeway turnpikes.

The NATO SEASPARROW Project Office has selected ODIN as their RFID partner in a new initiative to reduce costs of maintaining the SEASPARROW missiles.

The program entitled Health Monitoring of the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile leverages ODIN RFID to capture temperature, humidity, shock and vibration data. The ODIN solution offers accurate results in strict conditions and prevents accidental detonation by meeting stringent Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance compliance.

MasterCard and mFoundry have announced a partnership to enable more banks and credit unions around the world to offer customers contactless mobile payments.

The collaboration will combine MasterCard’s PayPass technology with mFoundry’s mobile financial services platform, which is used by more than 560 U.S. banks and credit unions. The resulting service will allow customers to make payments by simply tapping their NFC-enabled phone on any PayPass terminal at a merchant check-out.
