Lockheed Buys Savi

Military contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. on Thursday said it will buy privately held Savi Technology Inc., a maker of radio frequency identification software and hardware, for an undisclosed amount. Retailers and shippers have started using RFID tags as a replacement for barcodes to track cargo and inventory. The tags emit unique radio signals that can be received remotely. Savi is a contractor for the Department of Defense as well as civil agencies and businesses.”
