These allocated funds will be used by the DoD to implement RFID technology to improve the flow of goods through the DoD supply chain. RFID technology will help ensure that U.S. troops throughout the world obtain the proper equipment, weapons, supplies and food when they are needed.

Zebra, a leader in RFID technology, has been active in educating and demonstrating the value of RFID to Senator Durbin and his team. Zebra is a lead member of the AIM RFID Expert Group, whose proposal was incorporated into the DoD’s published RFID shipping label standards. Working with close to 80 percent of companies expected to comply with industry RFID mandates such as those established by the DoD and Wal-Mart, Zebra provided the Senator and his team with real-world examples and insight into RFID technology. The company also educated the Senator on the benefits of this technology to create a more efficient, reliable and cost effective supply chain. The Senator has since become a strong advocate for allocating defense funds for RFID implementation.
