Advanced ID to Supply Hog Tags For Thailand
Advanced ID Corporation has announced the acceptance of its technology for livestock RFID identification by Thailand’s Department of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
With the recent transfer of Avian flu to pigs, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives for Thailand, Mr Somsak Thepsutin, has asked for the immediate implementation of Advanced ID’s RFID system for Thailand’s entire hog industry. Thailand’s initial requirements for implementation of an identification and trace-back system will include approximately 1 million tags, 500 readers, as well as database management systems.
It is estimated that the Thailand pig industry represents potential revenues of US$12 - US$15 million per annum.
“We are excited about working with the Government of Thailand to assist them with their goal of implementing a trace-back and identification system,” commented Barry Bennett, president and CEO for Advanced ID Corporation.
With the addition of Thailand and Taiwan, Advanced ID is establishing a dominant position in the livestock RFID identification systems arena in Asia. The company is also currently working with its distributors in Australia, Argentina and New Zealand to implement RFID identification systems for their respective livestock industries.
